Walk with E and spend Q on the panic step—flash, dash, or the last stride out of stun—because Jax ganks get much cleaner when Leap Strike is the follow-up instead of the announcement
With R running, the first body forced to stay in your range is often good enough; Jax wins a lot of jungle scraps by breaking that champion with E plus autos instead of tunneling on a fantasy backline jump
If a lane is not volunteering setup, buy your fight with camps and HP instead of forcing the first clear, because Jax can absorb a small dent early but feels much worse once his damage component comes in late and his first real scrap starts one purchase short
If no lane is volunteering setup, stop trying to invent a gank and treat the map like a buy order for your next real fight. Full clear, protect your health, and be willing to trade a crab or path away from the stronger early jungler instead of forcing contact on their terms. You are mainly trying to reach the first skirmish with enough HP, gold, and cooldown confidence that E plus R can actually take over once someone commits. When a lane finally does become playable, walk in first, show E, and keep Q for the panic movement rather than spending everything on entry.
Jax's consecutive basic attacks continuously increase his Attack Speed.
Jax leaps toward a unit. If they are an enemy, he strikes them with his weapon.
Jax charges his weapon with energy, causing his next attack to deal additional damage.
Jax's combat prowess allows him to dodge all incoming attacks for a short duration and then quickly counterattack, stunning all surrounding enemies.
Every third consecutive attack deals additional Magic Damage. Additionally, Jax can activate this ability to deal damage around himself and strengthen his resolve, increasing his Armor and Magic Resist for a short duration.
