Show only half the runway on Q and aim through the target instead of up to them, because Rammus ganks get much cleaner when the lane sees less of the roll and you avoid the fake contact miss on impact
After the Q bump, do not panic-E someone who is already autoing you; turn on W, let them hit the turtle for a beat, and use taunt on the flash, dash, or target swap that would actually break contact
If the opener goes badly, do not invent a full-screen hero gank just to feel active—Rammus is unusually forgiving from moderate early deficits, so keep farming until you find the next short-warning roll or doorway fight where one champion has to be first in and stay there
Use R when it changes whether contact sticks, not just to announce the engage. The cleanest casts are usually the second movement: over a wall after Q is already threatening, on the flash after your bump, or as the extra hop that keeps you attached when the target finally tries to leave. If you R first from too far out, you often land ahead of your team and spend your last piece of stickiness before the real escape button appears. In slower fights, R is also fine as re-entry after peeling once, especially if the diver has already committed into your W range.
